The Laboratory
Welcome to the Intelligent Systems Laboratory (iSL), a Research Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics (University of Thessaly), located at Lamia in Greece. The iSL researchers' topics include but are not limited to the following: Machine Learning Algorithms, Computer Vision, Intelligent Systems, Evolutionary Computation, Robotics, Embedded Computing Systems, Health Informatics. Our research focus motivates the application of the research outcomes to real-world applications. Please navigate through our website to find more about our activities.
Machine Learning
Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) Algorithms for various applications, implemented in well-known platforms, exploiting state-of-the-art equipment
Data Mining
Creation and Exploitation of Data Sets to extract valuable information for various application domains, using novel techniques, methods, and algorithms
Embedded Systems
Embedded Computing Systems implementing accelerated or low-power designs for smart systems (including implants, Health devices, IoT, Smart City)
Security
Novel approaches in system security (including Hardware and Network) through the exploitation of Blockchain, Physical Unclonable Function, and other technologies
Health Informatics
A spectrum of multidisciplinary fields includes studying the design, development, and application of computational innovations to improve health care
- Nowadays, challenging real-world problems require the development and coordination of interdisciplinary approaches. Thus, the iSL members follow a research approach that promotes Intelligent Systems for Data Analysis and Information Management.
- We teach courses in the Undergraduate and the Postgraduate Program of the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics, University of Thessaly, and nurture the young Data Analysts of tomorrow.
- The primary mission of the iSL is to conduct basic and applied research in the topics of the laboratory's subject of knowledge and publish the research outcomes in prestigious international scientific journals and conference proceedings. iSL is promoting the students' early engagement with research offering undergraduate theses, postgraduate and doctoral theses on topics found at the cutting edge of technology.
